In plain words. Sprout has no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. Everything your child types, makes or earns is stored only on your device, and we can't see it. We receive two kinds of anonymous counts: how many times the website's pages are visited, and one short daily usage report from each device, which you can switch off. Neither contains names or anything that identifies a child or a device.
Who we are
Sprout (lilsprout.app) is made by Saw Tech Solutions ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: shawn@sawtechsolutions.com.
Information that stays on your device
To work, Sprout saves the following in your browser's storage (local storage and IndexedDB) on your device only:
- Each child profile: first name, age and the 4-digit PIN a grown-up chooses.
- Progress: game levels, right and wrong answers, minutes played, stickers, badges and settings.
- Creations: drawings, coloring pages, Sprout Town, saved pictures and songs a grown-up adds.
We never receive this information. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. If you use Backup in Grown-ups, the file is saved where you choose; we never see it. You can delete it all by removing a child in Grown-ups or by clearing this website's data in your browser settings.
Anonymous daily usage report
Once a day, the first time Sprout opens, each device sends one short report so we can see how Sprout is used and what to improve. It contains only:
- the date, the week Sprout was first opened on the device, and how many days it has been used;
- the app version;
- how many child profiles there are, and their age groups (not exact ages or birthdays);
- the total minutes played the day before, and the names of up to five most-played activities;
- whether the device is a phone, tablet or computer, and which Sprout web address it uses.
It never contains names, PINs, drawings, answers, a device ID, an advertising ID, or anything else that could identify a child, a family or a device. Reports are stored with our database provider, Supabase, and can only be read by us. To turn the reports off, go to Grown-ups, then Settings.
Website visit counts
Our host, Vercel, counts page visits on lilsprout.app for us with Vercel Web Analytics. It does not use cookies and does not follow anyone across other websites. We see totals such as how many people visited which page, the referring website, country, browser and device type. We do not see IP addresses or any personal information. Visit counts never include anything from inside the app, such as names, games or drawings.
Hosting and server logs
Like any website, Sprout's pages and files are delivered by servers (Vercel for the website and app, Supabase for the daily report). To deliver them, these providers process your device's IP address and basic browser information, and may keep it in short-lived security and operations logs. We do not use this information to identify anyone. Sprout's fonts, pictures and code are all served from our own website; Sprout does not load anything from advertising networks, social networks or Google.
Children's privacy
Sprout is made for children ages 3 to 7, to be set up by a parent or other grown-up. It is designed so that we do not collect personal information from children: there are no accounts, no chat, no ads, no links out of the app and no third-party trackers, and a child's name and work stay on the device. Because we don't collect children's personal information, there is nothing for us to share, sell or delete on our side. If you think we have received a child's personal information by mistake, email us and we will delete it.
Cookies
Sprout does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. It uses your browser's local storage only to save your child's profile and progress on your device, and a service worker to keep a copy of the app for offline play.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell or rent information, we do not show ads, and we do not share information with advertisers or data brokers.
Your choices
- Turn off the daily usage report in Grown-ups, Settings.
- Delete a child's data by removing their profile in Grown-ups, or delete everything by clearing this website's data in your browser.
- Block website visit counts with any content blocker; Sprout keeps working.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Sprout handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change means collecting anything new, we will update this page before the change takes effect.
